Ray Rushing

Services for Ray Rushing, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. Wednesday,June 20, at Union Hall Baptist Church in Brookhaven with burial inthe church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in chargeof arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Rushing, 80, died June 17, 2007, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Tylertown on Nov. 13, 1926, to Daisy StinsonRushing and Fred Rushing.

He worked as an insurance agent and staff manager with Life ofGeorgia, and retired after 25 years with United Insurance Companyof America.

He served in the United States Army and in Japan. He was amember of Union Hall Baptist Church, where he served as a deaconfor 51 years. He enjoyed gardening and many happy years were spentfishing with his wife.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his infant daughter,Debra Gail Rushing; his infant grandson, Jason Michael Calcote; hissisters, Edith Boyd, Helen Aldridge, Freddie Dunaway, Mabel Cates;and his brother, Dewey Rushing.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Margaret Bessonette Rushing;his son, Joel Ray Rushing; his daughters, Tasha Rushing, ofEllisville, Cheryl Rushing Calcote and husband Mike; his grandsons,Brian Calcote, of Collierville, Tenn., and Chad Calcote, ofBrandon; his brother, Kenneth Rushing and wife Thelma, of Brandon;his sister-in-law, Martha Rushing, of Magee; and a host of niecesand nephews.
