Several residents remained without power this morning followingstorms that raced through the area Wednesday night.

Lincoln County Civil Defense Director Clifford Galey said he hadreceived several reports of funnel clouds, but none wereconfirmed.

“There were some trees down,” Galey said.

Galey indicated trees were down around Weeks Lane and Mt. ZionRoad in Lincoln County. He said he was aware of the televisedreports of a tornado on the ground in the Loyd Star area, but hewas unable to confirm that fact.

Around 20 Entergy customers remained without power this morningaround the Ann Street and Brookwood Circle area of Brookhaven, saidEntergy Customer Accounts Manager Kenny Goza.

He indicated that some customers were also without power in theWesson area, but should have power restored by mid-morning.

Azalea Knight, public relations coordinator with SouthwestMississippi Electric Power Association said EPA members experiencedvery limited outages.

“A few in the Union Church area are still without power,” Knightsaid. “We’re working on these now.”

Most of the Southwest EPA members’ power was restored by 2 a.m.,she said.

Brookhaven Police Chief Pap Henderson said he was unaware of anydamage in the city.
