Services for Mary Ellen “Sisty” McCarthy of Fort Worth, Texas,were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at All Saints Episcopal Church inFort Worth with burial in Greenwood Memorial Park. GreenwoodFuneral Home in Fort Worth was in charge of arrangements. The Rev.Christopher Jambor and the Rev. Bert Honea officiated.

Mrs. McCarthy, 87, died Sept. 9, 2004. She was born in FortWorth on Aug. 18, 1917, to Mary Storm Lilly and Albert ArticeLilly.

After her father’s early death, she lived with her mother inBrookhaven. They later returned to Fort Worth, where she was rearedby her mother and loving stepfather, Charles W. Daggett. Sheattended Our Lady of Victory and Central High School. She spent twoyears at Fairmont College in Washington, D.C., before attending theUniversity of Texas where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Mrs.McCarthy was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church, the JuniorLeague of Fort Worth, River Crest Country Club, the Assembly andthe Fort Worth Garden Club. Her favorite pastime was playing bridgewith her dear friends. She had played bridge with the group since1943. She was loved by all who knew her and adored by her fourdaughters and eight grandchildren, who called her Mimi.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, JosephEdward McCarthy Jr.; her parents; and her brother, Albert ArticeLilly Jr.

Survivors are her daughters, Mary Anne McCarthy Cowan andhusband, Dr. William W. Cowan of Fort Worth, Megan McCarthy Bobbittand husband, James Bobbitt of Fort Worth, Shelley McCarthy Greggand husband, Guion Gregg III, of Dallas, Texas, and Ellen McCarthyKelly and husband, Raymond B. Kelly III of Fort Worth; hergrandchildren, Annabelle Fowlkes and husband, Gregory G. Fowlkes ofNew York City, N.Y., Hubert Leon Brown Jr. and wife, Caroline Brownof Midland, Texas, Joseph McCarthy Berkes of Fort Worth, HunterBobbitt and wife, Kimberly of Fort Worth, Tyler Bobbitt of FortWorth, Shelley Anne Moore and husband, Robert Moore of Houston,Megan McCarthy Gregg and John Guion Gregg of Dallas, Alice Kellyand Anne Kelly of Fort Worth, William W. Cowan Jr. and wife, AndiCowan and Robert W. Cowan and wife, Melinda Cowan; and nieces,nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, H.L. Brown III, Joseph M.Berkes, J. Hunter Bobbitt, Tyler M. Bobbitt and John Guion Gregg,and grandsons-in-law, Gregory G. Fowlkes and Robert L. MooreJr.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
