Services for Marie Thames Townsend of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, April 24, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burialin Easthaven Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Townsend, 91, died April 22, 2002, at Beverly Health Care.She was born in Lincoln County on May 6, 1910, to Estes Thames andOphelia Netherland Thames.

She had worked in the cafeteria of Baton Rouge General Hospital.She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she was a memberof the Young at Heart.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LeonTownsend; her sons, Marcus L. Townsend Jr. and James DonaldTownsend.

Survivors are her son, William Douglas Townsend of Brookhaven;her daughters, Van Pearl Ward of Tulsa, Okla., Joyce Ballard andLinda Rice, both of Brookhaven, Eva Evans of Clinton, and DonisAdams of Baton Rouge; her sister, Dorothy Walker of Baton Rouge;and 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and numerousgreat-great-grandchildren.
