Mother’s Day set aside to pay tribute to special people

Today is the day set aside to honor mothers, a tradition thathas been in place now for more than 100 years.

The first official Mother’s Day was celebrated in the United Statesin 1908, although there are reports of earlier celebrations as farback as the 1870s. The second Sunday in May was officiallydesignated as Mother’s Day by President Woodrow Wilson in1914.

There is nothing in the world like a mother’s love. Mothers areable to soothe the biggest hurts, forgive even the greatesttransgressions and see only the best in those they have been withsince before they were born.

So, on her special day, give mom a huge and a hearty ‘thanks’ forall she’s done and continues to do. And for those whose mothers areno longer with us, send up a prayer of appreciation for theinfluence and guidance she gave during her life.
