FCHS girls roll over Tylertown

MEADVILLE – Led by a 5-RBI night from senior Morgan Knapp, theFC Lady Bulldogs softball team bested Tylertown 14-4 to clinch a 3ASouth State playoff berth. The Lady Bulldogs scored eight runs inthe fourth inning to take charge of the Region 7-3A contest.

Coached by Dana and Mickey Smith, the Lady Bulldogs play host toWesson tonight starting at 7. FCHS is 14-3 on the season and 3-0inside the division.

Knapp, an outfielder hit a home run and collected two singles.Junior catcher Allison Hauer added a RBI triple.

FC starting pitcher Kacey Smith, a Co-Lin signee struck out five infour innings of work. She added a double and a triple at the platefor 3 RBIs. Freshmen standout Latroya Griffin belted twosingles.

Tylertown scored two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings,mainly off errors. Smith was replaced in the fifth inning on themound by junior Destiny DeDeaux, who struck out four Lady Chiefs intwo innings.

“We are playing good,” said Coach Smith. “We’ve just got to keep itup.”

The Class 3A State playoffs begin April 30th, currently FranklinCounty leads the division by one game over West Marion.
