Two arrests made in Friday store robbery

Two men were arrested shortly after a Friday night robbery of aHighway 51 business, said Brookhaven Police Chief Pap HendersonSaturday.

The robbery at the A-1 Stop on Highway 51 was reported at 9:31 p.m.Friday, the chief said. In the incident, a black male wearing allblack and wearing a hoodie entered the store, demanded the cashregister be opened and left with an undetermined amount ofmoney.

“He exited on foot,” Henderson said.

Marcus T. Ceaser, 18, of Crystal Springs, and Benjamin D. Nelson,18, of Brookhaven, have been arrested in connection with theincident. They remained in the Lincoln County Jail Saturday, thechief said.

“We apprehended them a short time later north of the store,”Henderson said.

Ceaser is charged with strong-arm robbery and Nelson has beencharged with conspiracy. In discussing the charge against Nelson,Henderson said an investigation indicated the two men had beenworking together in the incident.

Henderson said the quick arrests represented “a great job” by hisdepartment’s officers.

“They were patrolling the area so when the call came in, they wereable to start searching as quickly as they could,” the chiefsaid.
