West Lincoln’s Lady Bears made it a 3-peat as Division 7-1ATournament champions. Led by guard Erica Shaw’s 22 points, WestLincoln defeated the host Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets 44-37 inFriday night’s finals, witness by an estimated crowd of 1,000.

In the consolation game, Meleah Brown’s 21 points directed BogueChitto’s Lady ‘Cats to a 61-55 win over Vicksburg St. Aloysius, thetournament’s No. 1 seed. Kimberlee Thomas chipped in 17 points and14 rebounds.

West Lincoln (19-7) hosts Thomastown Monday night in the openinground of the South Mississippi 1A playoffs. Enterprise (12-11)hosts Nanih Waiya. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Bogue Chitto (15-11) travels to Ethel and St. Al (26-3) plays atMcAdams Monday night.

West Lincoln 44, Enterprise 37

The Lady Bears avenged an earlier loss to Enterprise. They brokean 8-8 deadlock with an 18-8, second-quarter run, giving them a28-18 halftime lead.

“In the first half, we shot the ball better than we have been,”said West Lincoln coach Lane Young. “Our team defense was good. Wewanted to limit (Alisha) Mason’s points.”

Mason, Enterprise’s leading scorer, finished with 21 points, 8rebounds and 2 assists. None of her teammates reached doublefigures. Kacey Rutland had 8 rebounds.

“We didn’t make the shots we normally make,” said Enterprisecoach Jill Nations. “Early foul trouble hurt us, too.”

On the backboards, center Talashia Fells led West Lincoln with 5rebounds. Shaw, Candy Hering and Britnee Smith each had 4 rebounds.April Kennedy had 5 assists and 4 steals.

Bogue Chitto 61, St. Aloysius 55

St. Al’s Lincoln County nightmare continued as the Lady Flashesabsorbed their second straight loss. Guard Chelsey Miller joinedBrown and Thomas in double figures with 13 points. Shasta Portergrabbed 10 rebounds for the Lady ‘Cats.

“My girls’ gave an outstanding effort,” said BC coach ChristiTerrell. “We rebounded better than we have all year. We stepped upand hit our free throws and played well defensively.”

The Lady Flahes got 19 points and 8 rebounds from Annie Beaugh.Sarah Kerut added 17 points and 8 rebounds. Amy Beaugh collected 13points and 9 assists.

“Bogue Chitto was ready to play,” said St. Al coach Drew Brayer.”Their defensive pressure took us out of our offensiveschemes.”

Brown had 14 of her game-high points in the first half. The Lady’Cats led 31-30 at halftime as Annie Beaugh scored 13 first-halfpoints.
