Warren hurls no-hitter, Cobras blank Enterprise

     WESSON —  The Wesson Cobras shut out Enterprise 10-0 Tuesday night in a Region 6-2A baseball showdown. Winning pitcher Bailey Warren struck out 6 batters, walked 2 and held the Yellow Jackets hitless in 6 innings.

     “Bailey had pretty good command of his pitches and he was very efficient,” said Wesson coach Seth Lofton. “We played pretty good defense behind him.”

     The Cobras hiked their region-leading record to 7-0 and stand at 15-2 overall. They visit Enterprise Friday, starting at 7 p.m. A junior varsity game begins the twinbill at 5 p.m.

     Wesson collected 8 hits in the victory. Left-fielder Brandon Nettles went 2-for-3. Shortstop Caleb Skinner went 2-for-2. First baseman Cullen Greer  slugged a 3-RBI double in the sixth. Jase Alexander, Alex Smith and Taylor Roberts singled.

     “We were really pleased,” said Coach Lofton. “We executed some bunts and we played great defense.”

     Senior Dylan Smith (5K, 8BB) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 earned runs.

     The Yellow Jackets (10-7, 4-3) fell behind 3-0 in the second inning. The game-ending run scored on a walk.

     Wesson cruised to a 10-0 victory in the JV game as wining pitcher Tyler McLeod fanned 6 batters and walked none, allowing 2 hits.

     Max Daughdrill doubled for the Cobras. Bolon Tadlock went 2-for-2. Mack Smith had an RBI single. McLeod and Ryan Traxler singled.
