Devon Alexander

Services for Devon Alexander, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m.Saturday, Dec. 16, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of theservice at the funeral home.

Mr. Alexander, 77, died Dec. 14, 2006, at McComb Nursing andRehabilitation Center. He was born on Oct. 7, 1929, to AdronAlexander and Bessie Rayborn Alexander.

He was a a retired state highway worker. He was a U.S. Armyveteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Felder’s UnitedMethodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, JewelAlexander; and his sister, Clytie Brister.

Survivors are his wife, Mary E. Boyd Alexander, of Brookhaven;his daughter, Darlene Alexander Case and husband Jimmy, ofBrookhaven; his sister, Gladys Matthews and husband Charles, ofJayess; his grandchildren, Delina Smith and husband Chris, andJennifer Whittington and husband Marc; and his great-grandchildren,Kasi Smith, Brodie Smith and Raney Whittington.

Truitt R. Boyd

Services for Truitt R. Boyd, of McComb and the Felder’sCampground community, are 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at CalvaryBaptist Church in Pricedale with burial in Little Bahala Cemeteryin Lincoln County. Jones Family Funeral Services in McComb is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday, Dec. 17, from 2 until 5 p.m. at thefuneral home, and on Monday at the church from noon until the timeof the service.

Mr. Boyd, 92, died Dec. 14, 2006, at McComb Nursing and Rehab.He was born in Pike County on July 7, 1914, to Oscar D. Boyd andBlanche B. Boyd.

He was a retired building contractor and cabinet maker in KansasCity, Mo. He and his first wife, Bernita, for many years whileresiding in Kansas City were traveling cheerleaders with the KansasCity Chiefs football team. He was a graduate of Carter’s CreekSchool and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale. He wasa member of the Young at Heart club at First Baptist Church inMcComb. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having servedin the South Pacific.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, BernitaFurr Boyd; his brothers, Clyde Boyd and Herbert Boyd; and hissister, Hula Whitehurst.

Survivors are his wife of nine years, Alma Martin McCulloughBoyd, of McComb and Felder’s Campground; his stepson, JimMcCullough, of Felder’s Campground; his sister, Christine B.Johnson, of Ft. Royal, S.C., and formerly of McComb; threestepgrandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; three nephews; twonieces and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lois S. Farmer

Lois S. Farmer, 85, died Dec. 13, 2006, at Silver Cross Home inBrookhaven. Visitation is today, Dec. 15, 2006, from 11 a.m. until1 p.m. at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services are1 p.m., today at the funeral home chapel, with burial in theLakewood South Cemetery.

A native of Brookhaven, Mrs. Farmer spent the majority of herlife in Jackson. She was a retired employee having worked forJCPenney for a number of years. Mrs. Farmer was a faithful andlongtime member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church and taught Sundayschool for 18 years. After moving to Brookhaven, she joinedEasthaven Baptist Church where she was a devoted member and lovedher Sunday school class and was actively involved in their senioradult activities. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.Her faith in Christ was vital to her. Her favorite scripture wasProverbs 22:1: “A good name is rather to be chosen than greatriches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.”

Survivors include her son, the Rev. Jerome Carroll Farmer andwife Pat, of Poplarville; her daughter, Kathy Bethea, ofBrookhaven; her grandchildren, Justin Farmer and wife Sammi, LaceyFarmer, Jason Thomas Bethea and wife Rhiannon, William JarodBarnes; and her great-grandchildren, Jenson Barousse and MasonDouglas Henry Bethea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Farmer, whopassed away in 1993.
