Faulkner St. escapes Co-Lin with victories

WESSON – The Faulkner (Ala.) State Community College Sun Chiefscollected 21 hits and escaped Sullivan Field with a pair of 1-runvictories for the Co-Lin Wolves. They won Sunday’s opener 9-8 andtook the nightcap 7-6.

Co-Lin (25-19, 12-10) hosts the Hinds Community College EaglesWednesday for a South Division doubleheader on Sullivan Field,starting at 4 p.m.

Faulkner St. 9, Co-Lin 8

Bubba Dubson was the winning pitcher. The sophomore southpawstruck out 5 batters, walked 4 and gave up 8 runs on 11 hits.

Home runs by centerfielder Curtis Feltman and first basemanStacy Boykin powered the Sun Chiefs.

Chuckie Stracener started on the mound for Co-Lin and took theloss. He struck out 2 batters, walked none and hit 2 batters. In 2innings he allowed 5 runs on 6 hits.

Leftfielder Brandon Atkins and catcher David Gray had 3 hits forCo-Lin. Rightfielder Brett Duncan had 2 hits.

Faulkner 7, Co-Lin 6

Brian Loftin was the winning pitcher in relief. DougAtkins pitched the last two innings for Co-Lin and absorbed theloss.

Shortstop Kyle Beall had 3 singles for Co-Lin. Thirdbaseman Brandon Holleman had 2 hits, including a double. BrandonAtkins, Britt Hederman, Jason Miles and Matt Lea singled for theWolves.
