The past couple of weeks have been very hard for my family andme because we lost a very dear friend – actually, more than afriend, a lot of people thought he was my “brother.”

The past couple of weeks have been very hard for my family andme because we lost a very dear friend – actually, more than afriend, a lot of people thought he was my “brother.”

Jimmy Furlow will be missed and loved forever by his wife andchildren, my family and many other families throughout thiscommunity. He was probably the most honorable man I’ve ever knownor will ever know. He was there more times than I can count for meand for anyone who needed a shoulder, a hand or anything else, forthat matter.

I am writing this letter to thank Bill Jacobs from the bottom ofmy heart for his editorial (“Jimmy Furlow defined the wordsvolunteerism, dedication,” April 17). It meant a lot to all of uswho knew and loved Jimmy. It was spoken not from words of otherpeople but from your heart and actions that you witnessed, and thatmeans more than you know.

I would also like to say the “Citizen of the Year” article onJimmy and his family was wonderful. Thank you, Matt Coleman. It wassomething that has been coming for years. I always felt that Jimmydeserved it. I am so thankful and appreciative that everyone elsefelt the same way. He would have been proud, just as we all areproud of him.
