Lula R. “Lu” Anders

Services for Lula R. “Lu” Anders of Summit were 11 a.m.,Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb with burial inTangipahoa Baptist Church Cemetery in Amite County. Services wereconducted by Dr. John McCall and Bro. Troy Mercer.

Mrs. Anders, 69, died Feb. 15, 2004, in Bogue Chitto. She wasborn in Amite County on Dec. 15, 1934, to F.H. Anders and RuthTurner Anders.

She was retired from United Steel of New Orleans, La. She was amember of Tangipahoa Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, FrankWilliam “Bill” Anders; and a sister, Doris A. King.

Survivors are her nieces and their husbands, Lisa and Mike Boydof Summit, and Phyllis and Mickey Wallace of Bogue Chitto; hernephew, Charles David King; her brother-in-law and his wife, Philipand Mary King of Summit; her aunt, Ruby Anders of LaPlace, La.; herspecial cousins, Anna and Jerry Brown of Summit, and Wayne andPeggy Roth of Tulsa, Okla.; her special friends, Rodney Jordan ofSmithdale, and Jeanette McDougall of Summit; and her great-niecesand great-nephews, Ryan and Jana Boyd of Summit, and Cory Alexanderof Abita Springs, La.

Pallbearers were Pete Johnston, Charlie Wallace, Mel Ratcliff,Sonny Leake, Robin Fenn, Sid Siebert and Noel Andrews. Honorarypallbearers were Jerry Brown, Jim Reeves and members of Mars HillClass of 1953.

Memorials may be made to Horizon Hospice or the American CancerSociety.

Torrey Daniel Boyd

Services for Torrey Daniel Boyd of Meadville are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Meadville Presbyterian Church with burial inMidway Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 5-8 p.m., and Wednesday from 8 a.m.until noon, at Franklin Funeral Home, and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m.,at the church.

Mr. Boyd, 23, died Feb. 15, 2004, in Natchez. He was born inAmory on Aug. 22, 1980, to Trooper Armstrong Boyd and Nell TorreyBolt.

He was employed by Superior Fence Company. He was a member ofMeadville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his parents, Chuck and Nell Bolt of Meadville; hissister, Neely Ziskin of Minnesota; his brother, Trey Boyd ofMeadville; two nieces; and one nephew.

Thad S. Bridges Sr.

Services for Thad S. Bridges Sr. of Vicksburg are 11 a.m.,Thursday, Feb. 19, at M.W. Stringer Grand Lodge Temple in Jacksonwith burial in Pearl River Valley Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from noon until 5 p.m., at Tyler FuneralHome, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m., at M.W. Stringer Grand LodgeTemple.

Mr. Bridges, 54, died Feb. 12, 2004, at M.D. Anderson CancerCenter in Houston. He was born in Lawrence County on July 28, 1949,to Edgar Bridges Sr. and Willie Mae Bridges.

He was a business manager at Central Mississippi HealthServices, and he reopened the Arenia Mallory Health Center. He wasthe first black banker in the state of Mississippi with DepositGuaranty National Bank in Jackson. He was a member of Pearl RiverValley Baptist Church in Monticello, where he served as trustee. Hewas a 1967 graduate of McCullough Attendance Center in Monticello,and a 1971 graduate of the University of Mississippi’s School ofBanking and Finance.

Preceding him in death was his mother.

Survivors are his father, Edgar Bridges Sr. of Monticello; hiswife, Betty Joyce Mathis Bridges of Vicksburg; his daughter,Candice Mathis Bridges; his sons, Thad S. Bridges Jr., Nicholas L.Bridges and Michael Whitfield; his sisters, Erma Nell Magee, GoldaFranklin, Eleanor Bridges Brown, Carolyn Ross, W. Ann BridgesPeyton and Betty Jean Bridges Wright; his brothers, Alvin Bridges,Carvin L. Bridges, Edgar Bridges Jr., Louis D. Bridges and Amos D.Bridges; and two grandchildren.

Robert C. “Bob” Brown

Services for Robert C. “Bob” Brown of Jackson are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Directors Chapel withburial in Lakewood South.

Visitation is Tuesday from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Brown, 72, died Feb. 16, 2004, at his residence.

He was an electrician, and had worked for the City of Jackson asa traffic engineer. He was a native of Bogue Chitto, and had livedin Jackson most of his life. He was an Army veteran, having servedin Korea. He was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Helen Brown of Jackson; hisdaughters, Nancy Pierce of Richland, and Lynda Collins ofGreenwood, Ind.; his sons, Robert C. “Bobby” Brown Jr. of Raymond,and Tim Brown of Jackson; his sisters, Eva Nell Patterson of Terry,Lena Culpepper of Bogalusa, La., and Barbara King of Bogue Chitto;his twin brother, Bill Brown of Osyka; his other brothers, WinstonWallace of Bogue Chitto, and Malcom Wallace of Baton Rouge, La.;six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
