Funeral services for Billy Ray Reed, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at Macedonia Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on North Jackson Street is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.

     Mr. Reed, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 22, 1933, to Lucius and Rosa Smith Reed.

     He was retired from the oilfield and was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Reed was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

     Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, Steven Ray Reed; brothers, Lenward Reed and Vencie Reed; and brother-in-law, Danny Anderson.

     Survivors are his loving wife of 60 and half years, Janie Pearl Entrican Reed; sons, Bill Reed and wife, Vicky, and Lester Reed and wife, Kim; daughters, Kay Allred and husband, Ronny, Fay Mahaffey and husband, Dicky, and Jeanne Pearl Hunsucker and husband, James Earl; brothers, Don Reed and wife, Glenda, Bobby Reed and wife, Mary, Parley Reed and wife, Liz and Kenneth Reed; sisters, Betty Lou Eickenloff and husband, Larry, and Ada Anderson; sister-in-law, Nelline Reed; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

     Pallbearers will be Jamie Allred, Justin Case, Steven Reed, Josh Reed, Andy Mahaffey and Shane Reed. Honorary pallbearers are Sammy Holcomb, Matthew Smith and Jake Hawley.
