A Brandon family will bring Branson-style entertainment toBrookhaven Friday when they perform at The Haven.

CandyLee and Camea Dobbs are “Steppin Out” with The StarlightSound at 7 p.m. at the theater on West Cherokee Street.

Camea, 18, and CandyLee, 11, are the daughters of Kevin andTahya Dobbs, the granddaughter of Brookhaven native Othel Anding,and the great-granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Denver Anding, whostill live in Lincoln County.

Camea is a freshman at Mississippi College majoring inbroadcasting and journalism.

“She sings a lot of old country, like Patsy Cline,” said TahyaDobbs. “CandyLee sings a lot of old standards that everyone loves.They both do patriotic and gospel songs.”

Dobbs said “Steppin Out” seemed like an appropriate title fortheir first self-promoted event.

“Even though they’ve done a lot of shows, they’ve always beeninvited. This is the first time we’re doing the inviting,” shesaid.

Greg Russell, executive director of the Brookhaven LittleTheatre, said he was proud the girls chose The Haven for theirshow.

“I haven’t seen them, but we look forward to the show,” he said.”Everything we’ve heard about them has been very good.”

Russell said “Steppin Out” is one of the first shows to bepresented on The Haven’s stage that was not a BLT production. Itrepresents a new direction for the theatre.

“We are working hard to make our theatre more accessible to thepublic,” he said.

Event tickets, which are $10, are available at the door of TheHaven or may be purchased at A Designer’s Florist.
