WESSON — The Baton Rouge Community College Bears roared onSullivan Field Saturday afternoon and escaped with a pair of winsover the Co-Lin Wolves.

Baton Rouge won the opener 3-1 and the finale 8-7.

Co-Lin (9-4) travels to East Mississippi at Scooba Tuesday.Baton Rouge improved to 6-17 on the season.

“We didn’t play real well,” said Co-Lin head baseball coachKeith Case. “As a team, we had some poor at bats. Defensively, wedid not play well. It was not a good day. The way we approached thegame today was not good.

“We have to come back and regroup and refocus,” added Case. ” Iwas disappointed. A few guys did their parts.”

Baton Rouge 3, Co-Lin 1

Co-Lin tied the game at 1-all in the top of the second inning.The Bears added one run in the top of the fifth and seventh inningsto secure the win.

Chad Dugas (2-3) was the winning pitcher in five innings with 1run allowed on 2 hits, plus 2 walks, 2 strikeouts and 1 hit batter.Also seeing action was David Roux in the final 2 innings.

Absorbing the loss was Derek Thompson (1-2) in 6 2/3 innings.Thompson allowed 3 runs on 8 hits. He had 11 strikeouts, 1 walk and1 hit batter. Matthew Tubbs worked the final 1/3 innings.

Leading the Wolves with a single were Josh Logan, Dane Ordersand Joel Hurt.

Gatlin Jones and John A. Pizzolato drilled two hits apiece forthe Bears. Roux doubled.

Each team committed two errors.

Baton Rouge 8, Co-Lin 7

In the second game, Co-Lin overcame an 8-3 deficit with 2 runsin the fourth and sixth innings to cut the lead to 1 run.

Cody Lemoine (1-0) worked four innings to get the win. Lemoineallowed 4 runs on 8 hits, had no strikeouts and walked two.Courtney Oubre worked an inning followed by Zachery Walton.

Co-Lin’s Kyle Fairley (1-1) worked the first inning with 5 runsallowed on 6 hits, no walks and no strikeouts. Brett Hartfield tookover for the next 3 innings with 3 runs allowed on 1 hit, 1strikeout and 2 walks. Ryan Hoben finished the final four inningswith 2 strikeouts and 1 walk, no hits and no runs allowed.

Sophomore outfielder Xavier Qualls led the Wolves at bat with atriple, a double and a single. Ryan Williams tripled and singled.Matthew Schexnayder, Cole Hodges and Orders also had two hitsapiece. Jeremy Boler singled.

Blake Benard doubled and singled for Baton Rouge. Alan Primeauxsingled twice. Doubling was James Barnes.
