Authorities are hopeful that autopsy results will yield someclues after a man’s decomposed body was found in a wooded area inwestern Lincoln County Friday afternoon.

The body, believed to be that of a black male age 55-60, wassent to Mississippi Mortuary after it was recovered from a woodedarea on Porter’s Trail Friday around 4:30 p.m. However, LincolnCounty Sheriff Lynn Boyte said the service had several otherautopsies to perform before it could get to the one from LincolnCounty.

“I hope to know something today,” Boyte said.

When it was found, the body had been in the location about oneto two weeks, Boyte estimated. The sheriff said there had been noreports of missing persons during that time, and there had been nocalls since the body was found.

“Everything seems to be just treading water, and we’re waitingto see what happens,” Boyte said.

The sheriff said there was no evidence of foul play in thedeath, but authorities were not ruling out that possibility.

Boyte said the body is believed to be that of a local person,but that has not been confirmed. The sheriff added that he hopedthe autopsy would reveal some characteristics to help identify theman.

“We just have to be patient and see what the autopsy shows,”Boyte said.

Authorities began searching for the body after receiving a callfrom a citizen in the around Porter’s Trail. After about an hour,Boyte said the body was found along a pipeline near the road northof Highway 84 about 12 miles west of Brookhaven.
