Lincoln County Circuit Court officials handled a short docketWednesday that resulted in one defendant being sent to prison andanother facing a term at the restitution center.

Jerry T. Doss, 24, of 1103 Brookway Boulevard, was ordered toserve the first 84 consecutive months of a 12-year sentence forunlawful possession of cocaine and unlawful possession ofmarijuana. Doss pleaded guilty to the charges Monday.

Judge Mike Smith ordered the last five years of the sentenceserved on post release supervision. Doss was also instructed toobtain long-term alcohol and drug treatment and to pay a $2,000fine, as well as a small restitution amount and standardcourt-appointed attorney fees.

In another sentencing, Ansleum White was sentenced to threeyears after pleading guilty Wednesday to a felony bad check charge.White was placed in the restitution center to have a chance to earnprobation.

White, age unavailable, of McComb, was ordered to pay a $500fine and $1,911 in restitution. He was also to remain out on bonduntil there is an opening at the restitution center.

Other court activity Wednesday was brief, said Circuit ClerkTerry Lynn Watkins.

“We had an omnibus hearing and an arraignment,” she said.

A May 21 trial date was scheduled for James B. Thompson, 48, of1156 Highway 550, following his omnibus hearing. Thompson isaccused of failure to support minor children.

Willie Bates, 40, of 420 East Cherokee St., waived arraignmentproceedings in his case. Bates is facing two indictments: one forgrand larceny and another for burglary and conspiracy.
