Funeral services for Myrtis Marie Byrd, ofBrookhaven, are 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, at Siloam MissionaryBaptist Church in Brookhaven with burial in Siloam Cemetery. R.E.Tyler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    Visitation is Friday from noon until 7 p.m., with family presentfrom 6 until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

    Mrs. Byrd, 59, died June 23, 2011, at her residence. She was bornin Brookhaven on Aug. 8, 1951.

    She was a former nursing assistant at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was a member of Siloam M.B. Church.

    Preceding her in death were her father, Billy Keys; two sisters;and a brother.

    Survivors are her mother, Marie Powell Hilson, of Champaign, Ill.;her husband, Marvin Byrd, of Brookhaven; her son, Larry Hilson, ofBrookhaven; her stepson, Joseph Motley, of Champaign; herdaughters, Rebecca Byrd, of Brookhaven, and Alice Nicole Johnson(Don) and Kizzy Byrd, both of Champaign; her brothers, Willie EarlHilson (Cleo) and Michael Hilson, both of Champaign, A.C. Ward, ofWaterproof, La., and Conrad Hilson and James Earl Jackson, of NewOrleans; her sisters, Mary Buie, Brenda Blisset (Johnnie), DebraGodbolt, Lula Ruth Hilson, Sadie Davis (Greg) and Victoria Hilson,all of Champaign, and Carlo Hilson and Mattie Bowie, both ofWaterproof; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; two specialnieces, Tiffen Gomez and Natilie Markham; and 14 grandchildren.
