Services for Versie Ratcliff, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Saturday, March 6, at the Brookhaven branch of the Church of JesusChrist of Latter-day Saints, with burial in the Red Star WardCemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Drive is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home, andon Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church until the time of theservice.

Mr. Ratcliff, 93, died March 3, 2010, at Hospice Ministries inRidgeland. He was born in Lincoln County on July 25, 1916, to JohnRichard Ratcliff and Ida Smith Ratcliff.

He was a farmer, and worked in the oil field industry, and with thehighway department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and servedduring World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-day Saints, Brookhaven branch.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Donis LouiseRatcliff; his brothers, Carlos, Rance, Sidney, Percy and AlibyRatcliff; his sisters, Beatrice Leggett and Nellie Ward.

Survivors are his sons, John “Jimmy” Ratcliff, of Skipwith, Va.,Gregory Ratcliff, of Brookhaven, and Russell Rushing, ofPennsylvania; his daughters, Betty Thompson and Robin Jackson, bothof Brookhaven; and his 13 grandchildren and numerousgreat-grandchildren.
