After the final election votes were tallied, the city of Budefinally had a new mayor and alderman at-large Wednesdayafternoon.

Earl Case was named the winner of the mayor’s race with 175total votes received, said Bude City Clerk Debra Wactor. IncumbentMayor Arthur Mac Littleton fell short in his re-election bid with142 votes, followed by Margie MacNair with 47 votes. FollowingTuesday’s election, the Bude races were too close to call untilfinal absentee and affidavit votes were counted, Wactor said.

This will be Case’s first term in a Bude political office.

Case, who will take office on around the first of July said heis looking forward to the job. At the top of his agenda will be thedrainage issue that many of Bude’s towns people have had to face inrecent days.

“The biggest feedback I’ve gotten from people is the drainageproblem that’s been neglected for years,” said Case, a shop foremanfor McManus Electric in Bude.

Case said he will be as fair as he can be with the decisions hewill make for the town of Bude.

Wactor said Wards One, Two and Three were unopposed. Aldermentaking office will be Lee J. Romero III in Ward One, James Watts inWard Two and incumbent Tommy Anthony Gibbs in Ward Three.

The alderman at-large contest was won by Grady Huff, who beatincumbent Norma Jean Kelly with a total vote count of 195 to160.

Ward Four Alderwoman Shanna H. Jackson, was the only race thatdetermined a clear winner Tuesday night. Jackson garnered 62 votesto Linda Gail Green’s 42 votes.
