John William Foster

Memorial services for John William Foster, of McCall Creek, are1 p.m. today, March 30, at Eddiceton Baptist Church. RiverwoodFamily Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Foster, 86, died March 28, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Bude on Jan. 8, 1919, to John E. Foster and Pearl E. ArtmanFoster.

He was retired from shipbuilding at Ingles Shipyard. He servedin the Navy from 1940 until 1948.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his wife, Alice AmySampson Foster.

Survivors are his sisters, Ruby E. Todd, Calmetta Myers, JuanitaBarletta, Detress Wilson, Betty Gean Touchstone, Judith L. Hamiltonand Dorothy McFarland; his brother, James Foster; and a host ofnieces and nephews.

Kristen Skylar Jolley

Services for Kristen Skylar Jolley, of Dallas, are 11 a.m.Thursday, March 31 at Abundant Life Christian Center with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is incharge of arrangements.

The toddler, 2, died of cancer March 27, 2005, at her residence.She was born in Dallas on Aug. 22, 2002, to Christopher Jolley andNelci Jolley, of Dallas.

Survivors are her parents; her maternal grandparents, MariaDapaixao and Miquel Dasilva, both of Brazil; her paternalgrandparents, Marvin R. and Ulla I. Jolley, of Brookhaven; herpaternal great-grandfather, Hans Radlein, of Germany; her brothers,Lucas Jolley and Taylor Jolley, of Dallas; her sister, SamanthaJolley, of Dallas; eight cousins, Julia Zanon, Marcela Dasilva,Sara Jolley, Kimi Jeanson, Stephen Jeanson, Luiz Ricardo Dasilvaand Althair Dasilva; her aunts and uncles, Eva Dasilva, VanuzaZannon, Luiz Carlos Dasilva and Fabe Dapaixao, all of Brazil, Mikeand Sandy Jeanson, of McComb, and Manfred and Angela Jolley, ofHattiesburg.

Robert Lessey Rippy

Services for Robert Lessey Rippy, of Bogue Chitto, were 11 a.m.Monday, March 14 at Cold Springs Church of Christ in Bogue Chittowith burial in Stewart Cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb wasin charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rippy, 74, died March 11, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Aug. 9, 1930, to Robert “Bob” Rippy andEmma Richardson Rippy Lofton, of Hattiesburg.

He was a retired painter. He was a faithful longtime member ofCold Springs Church of Christ in Bogue Chitto.

Preceding him in death were his father; his first wife, AlmaBeatrice Rippy; his second wife, Rose Mary Rippy; two brothers,Jonathan Rippy and James Ray Rippy; one sister, Sally Ray Womack;and one son, Elmer Jonathan Rippy.

Survivors are his mother, Emma Richardson Rippy Lofton; hisdaughters, Joyce Rippy Wallace and her husband, Carlos, of Summit,and Bobbie Rippy Rawls and her husband, Dalvis, of McComb; his son,Robert Larry Rippy and his wife, Susan Britt Rippy, of Brookhaven;his sisters, Shirley Ray Rippy Kendall, of Brookhaven, Sarah RippyMonistre, of Hammond, Mildred Cook, of Hattiesburg, and BonnieAdams and Kathy Rippy, both of Bogue Chitto; his brothers, JackieRay Rippy and his wife, Beverly, Donnie Ray Rippy and his wife,Beverly, Luther Ray Rippy and his wife, Trudy, Charles Ray Rippy,Bobby Ray Rippy and his wife, Charlotte, Billy Ray Rippy and GlennRay Rippy and his wife, Rena, all of Brookhaven; sevengrandchildren, Dwight Wallace, Leslie Wallace, Jason Wallace,Jeremy “Ace” Wallace, Brad Morgan, Bryan Morgan and Dalton Rawls;six stepgrandchildren, Sandi Vanlandingham, Debra Holcomb, BettyRollins, Shannon Hodges, James Buffington and Jo Buffington; andeight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brad Morgan, John Rippy, Jeremy Wallace, JasonWallace, Will Montgomery and Tony Davis.

Dorothy Jean Smith

Services for Dorothy Jean Smith, of Brookhaven, are 10 a.m.Thursday, March 31 at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mrs. Smith, 75, died March 29, 2005, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Brookhaven on Feb. 6, 1930, to Homer L.Britt and Ida C. Minton Britt.

She was a homemaker and dairy farmer. She was a member ofMacedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Allie MaeGunnell and Betty Vee Brewer; and her brother, James Britt.

Survivors are her husband, Hoyte Smith, of Brookhaven; her sons,Wayne Jeffery Smith, and his wife, Debbie, and Mitchell PurvisSmith, all of Brookhaven; her sister, Lessie McKoy, of Bronson,Fla.; her brothers, Clayton Britt and Tom Britt, both ofBrookhaven, and Charles Britt, of Nederland, Texas; sevengrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
