Virginia Ann Barfoot

Services for Virginia Ann Barfoot, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Damascus Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Monday from 6 until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10until 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Barfoot, 77, died Aug. 14, 2009, at St. Dominic-JacksonMemorial Hospital in Jackson. She was born in Franklin County onSept. 6, 1931, to Cade Jack Smith and Effie Mae Jackson.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Damascus BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother.

Survivors are her husband, Thomas Walter Barfoot, of Brookhaven;her sons, Ricky Barfoot, of Monterey, La., Tony Barfoot, ofShucktown, and Dale Barfoot, of Brookhaven; a sister, Jackie RaeBuckels, of Cleveland; her six grandchildren; and her sevengreat-grandchildren.

Tommy Henry Kornegay

Services for Tommy Henry Kornegay, of Brookhaven, were 2 p.m.Saturday, Aug. 15, at Jones Family Funeral Services Chapel inMcComb with burial in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. The Rev. ShellyJohnston officiated.

Mr. Kornegay, 78, died Aug. 12, 2009, in Pensacola, Fla. He wasborn in Paducah, Ky., on Dec. 18, 1930, to Summer Sylvester andMary Cothern Kornegay.

He was a retired electrician and owned his own business for manyyears. He was an active member and deacon of Ramah Baptist Churchand was a former member of East McComb Baptist Church and UnityBaptist Church. Mr. Kornegay served in the U.S. Army. He will bemissed by all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, BettyWallace Kornegay; his brothers, Robert Kornegay and Jewell “Buddy”Kornegay.

Survivors are his wife, Louella Ritchie Kornegay, of Brookhaven;a son, Tuck Kornegay and wife, Debby, of Birmingham, Ala.; adaughter, Kathy Kornegay Rickwood and husband, Geremy, of Lakeland,Fla.; a stepson, Larry Ritchie and wife, Ginger, of McCall Creek;his stepdaughters and their husbands, Judy and Carl Davis, ofSummit, Debbie and Dock Boyd, of Pace, Fla., and Susan and MohamadSchuman, of Hattiesburg; his brothers, Edwin Kornegay and wife,Nadene, of Colorado, and David Kornegay and wife, Grace, of Summit;a sister, Leona Dickerson, of Summit; his nine grandchildren,Rebecca Yeager and husband, Charles, Marla Kornegay, all ofBirmingham, Edward Rickwood and wife, Katieanne, of Camden, S.C.,Christopher Rickwood and wife, Elizabeth, of Sewannee, Ga., AmandaBates and husband, Steven, of Magnolia, James Davis and wife, Beth,of Petal, Brandon Ritchie and wife, Julie, Jennifer Carter andTrent Ritchie, all of Walker, La.; his six great-grandchildren,Leeannedra Rickwood, Carter Rickwood, Zachary Rickwood, ColtonCarr, Lauren Bates and Kaityln Bates; and numerous nieces andnephews.

Pallbearers were Geremy Rickwood, Carl Davis, Dock Boyd, MohamadSchuman, James Davis, Brandon Ritchie, Trent Ritchie and CharlesYeager.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Ramah BaptistChurch.
