Ruth J. Davis, age 85, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, inHighlands, N.C., where she had lived the last five years with herdaughter. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the chapel ofWright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with burial inClinton Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeralhome.

She was at home in Clinton for 40 years after moving fromMeridian in 1961. Mrs. Davis retired in 1980 after a 30-year careeras a devoted teacher and guidance counselor for the state ofMississippi, in Meridian and Jackson public schools. She taughtbiology at Murrah High School, and was a guidance counselor atCalloway, Enochs, and Lanier schools in Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hemby Davis; and son,Charlie Davis.

Survivors are her only daughter, Wanda D. Cooper and husbandChuck, of Highlands; her two grandsons, Ted Rogers, of Clinton, andRon Rogers. of Brandon, and two great-grandsons.
