Woman admits to abuse of vulnerable adult

A Monticello woman was fined $268.50 Tuesday after pleadingguilty to a misdemeanor charge of abuse of a vulnerable adult, saidAttorney General Jim Hood.

Tashnika Madison, 23, of 1523 Nola Road, pleaded guilty beforeLincoln County Justice Court Judge Ralph Boone Tuesday. The fineimposed on Madison includes court costs.

At the time of the abuse, Madison was employed as a CertifiedNurses Assistant (CNA) with the Silver Cross Nursing Home inBrookhaven, Hood said. She was charged for using excessive forcewhile placing a vulnerable adult on a mechanical lift.

“In this case the defendant used her forearm and pushed againstthe back of the resident’s neck as she was placing her on thelift,” the attorney general said. “Luckily the victim was notphysically injured from this act, but was still clearly shakenup.”

The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Medicaid FraudControl Unit under the direction of Special Assistant AttorneyGeneral Scott Stuart of the attorney general’s office.
