For the second weekend in a row, authorities were searching on aSaturday night for a suspect in the armed robbery of a conveniencestore near the city limits.

The City Mart #2 at the corner of Natchez Avenue and Zetus Roadwas held up a few minutes after 6 p.m. Saturday, according toBrookhaven Police Chief Arlustra “Pap” Henderson.

“A lone black male went into the store and pulled a weapon onthe clerk,” said Henderson. “He took her hands and tied them withduck tape.”

Henderson said the clerk was not seriously injured in theincident. The tape was loose enough for her to break free and callthe police department within a few minutes.

The suspect is believed to be around five feet, five inches tofive feet, six inches tall with a slender build.

He was wearing a Mardi Gras type cap pulled over part of hisface, said Henderson.

“He left the store on foot, and we’re looking for him at thistime,” said Henderson Saturday night.

No other witnesses were at the store at the time of the robberyto see a direction of travel.

Authorities are also still looking for Bruce Nelson, a32-year-old black male from the Brookhaven area, wanted inconnection with a robbery at R & B One Stop on Main Streetaround 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 8.

A warrant was issued last week for Nelson, who is charged withaggravated assault and armed robbery in the shooting of R & BOne Stop owner Hari Singhi during one of two robberies lastweekend. Singhi was recovering at University Medical Center thisweek after the gunshot wound to the head.

Mondrae T. Smith, 22, of 710 Williams Street, was arrested andcharged with armed robbery less than 20 minutes after the armedrobbery of Stop-N-Shop on East Monticello Street around 6:15 p.m.on Nov. 9.
