Once again, the doors of the Copiah-Lincoln Community CollegeSports Hall of Fame will open wide to welcome four new members onSaturday, Oct. 10. The inductees are Ray Ishee of Wesson, DaronJenkins of Braxton, Leon Boone of Florence and Jerry Globetti ofTuscaloosa, Ala.

The quartet will be inducted during the annual meeting of theCo-Lin Athletic Alumni Association at 10 a.m. and later recognizedduring an alumni luncheon at noon in the Thames Center. They willtake another bow during halftime ceremonies that evening whenCo-Lin plays Pearl River in Stone Stadium. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

Ishee is highly regarded by his peers as a defensive coach. Hestarred at linebacker for Jones County Junior College and DeltaState University.

As head coach at Co-Lin, from 1985-1989, Ishee compiled a37-17-1 record. His 1985 team won the MACJC State Championship anddefeated nationally ranked Nassau County (N.Y.) in the East Bowlwhich was hosted that year by Co-Lin.

Ishee’s teams were ranked in the Top 10 in the nation four ofthe five years. That state championship was the first for Co-Lin’sfootball program since 1938.

Ishee also served as dean of students at C0-Lin from1990-2001.

Jenkins, a 1988 Co-Lin grad, was a member of the Co-Linbasketball team that finished 36-2 and was ranked No. 5 nationallyunder former coach Mike Jones. Jenkins was ranked among the Top 5JUCO players in the nation that season.

A slender 6-foot-10 post player, Jenkins sparkled in the NJCCANational Tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. He played like a mad stork,swatting shots left and right. He led the tourney in scoring,rebounds and dunks.

Jenkins had several senior college offers but elected to stayclose to home in Simpson County and played for former Co-Lin coachM.K. Turk at Southern Miss when the Golden Eagles won the NIT.

Boone made his mark in football and track, graduating fromCo-Lin in 1957. A Hazlehurst graduate, he was nicknamed “Nuke.” Helater graduated from Louisiana College where he played football asa halfback.

Globetti also is a 1957 Co-Lin grad. He was captain of thefootball team. He will be inducted into the Louisiana CollegeSports Hall of Fame later this year.

Meanwhile, Professor Hoopla B.S., was looking for his favoritemeal ticket as he diligently watched a deer food plot. He put downhis trusty bow and arrow long enough to reveal the winners of someweekend football action.

West Lincoln at Bogue Chitto: Bobcats know how to win and theyenjoy beating the archrival Bears in any sport or activity. BogueChitto 31-12.

Enterprise at Puckett: Wolves have graduated to Class 2A butthat hasn’t slowed them down much. Puckett 43-8.

Madison St. Joe at Loyd Star: Hornets enjoy a happy homecomingand remain unbeaten in 6 games. Loyd Star 24-14.

Wesson at Hinds AHS: Undefeated Cobras will have their handsfull when they invade Utica to play the Wardawgs. Wesson 19-12.

Presbyterian Christian at Copiah Academy: Colonels are expectedto win their second straight game in Gallman. Copiah Academy27-14.

North Pike at Lawrence County: Cougars begin Region 6-4A playafter a brutal non-region schedule. Lawrence County 38-19.

Franklin County at Wilkinson County: Bulldogs feast on Wildcatburgers after winning this Region 7-3 contest. Franklin County44-12.
