Services for the Rev. James Clarence Young of Silver Creek are 2p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burialin Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Silver Creek.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m., and Wednesday from 8 a.m.until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Young, 74, died Dec. 8, 2002, at St. Dominic’s Hospital inJackson. He was born in Adona, Ark., on July 25, 1928, to Mr. andMrs. Clarence Young.

He was a minister, retired printer and retired educator. Heattended Morrolton High School in Morrolton, Ark., and graduatedcum laude from Arkansas A & M College with a bachelor ofscience degree. He received a master’s degree in education from theUniversity of Southern Mississippi.

He worked as a printer for 20 years. He taught three years atBeaulah Williams School in Silver Creek. He retired in August 1993after 17 years as an administrative assistant for the LincolnCounty School District.

He was ordained by the Arkansas District Council of theAssemblies of God in 1964, and was a minister in the Assemblies ofGod for 56 years. He served as pastor of several churches includingFirst Assembly of God in Silver Creek for the past 30 years.

Preceding him in death were his father, Clarence Young; hismother, Pearl Young; and his brother, Donald Young.

Survivors are his wife, Deloice Young of Silver Creek; his sonsand daughter-in-law, Clyde and Vicky Young of Columbia, and JamesAllan Young of Natchez; his sister, Betty Jean Cain of Eudora,Ark.; his grandsons, Wesley Young and Daniel Young of Columbia; andseveral other family members and friends.
