Funeral services for Lizzie Lee Farmer, of Monticello, were 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, with burial in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

     Mrs. Farmer, 95, died Aug. 30, 2012, at Lawrence County Hospital. She was born on May 19, 1917, to Lynn and Cordelia Dickerson Smith.

     Mrs. Farmer, a former sales clerk, retired from Brister’s Clothing Store after 33 years of employment. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was the oldest member of New Zion Baptist Church.

     Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Marvin Farmer; daughter, Barbara Fauver; brothers, Henry Smith, Buddy Smith, Edgar Smith, and Vernon “Pete” Smith; and sisters, Charlene Carr and Mildred Scoggins.

     Survivors are her sons, Robert Earl and Ann Farmer, of Lafayette, La, and Herman and Shirley Farmer, of Monticello; daughters, Inez Jinright, of Contonment, Fla., Jeanette and Billy Foster, of Monticello, and Bernice Grimes, of Monticello; sister, Francis and Elzen King, of Monticello; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
