Services for John Wendell McCardle Sr. of Hazlehurst are 11 a.m.Wednesday, Oct. 20 at Sardis Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Community Funeral Services are in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.

Mr. McCardle, 76, died of respiratory failure at Hardy WilsonMemorial Hospital on Oct. 18, 2004.

He was a veteran of World War II and served as a cargospecialist in the Army stationed in Japan. He was a retired poultryfarmer and cattleman. He was associated with his father, WendellMcCardle, in the operation of McCardle Telephone Co., which wasfounded by his grandfather John J. McCardle.

He was a graduate of Union High School and Co-Lin JuniorCollege. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American LegionHenry Groves Post, Jackson. He was a member of First BaptistChurch, Hazlehurst. He was married to Edna Saxon McCardle for 51years.

Survivors are his wife; his son, John Wendell McCardle Jr.; histwo grandsons; a niece and several nephews.
