BSW wins one against Hammond

HAMMOND – The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats secured a victory over Hammond in TNT Youth Football League action in Hammond, La.

The Hammond Hurricanes edged BSW 7-6 in the 11-12-year-old game. In the 9-10-year-old game, The Hammond Wildcats crushed Brookhaven 26-0. In 7-8-year-old action, the Wildcats blanked the Saints 26-0.

BSW will play again Saturday, hosting the Ferriday Trojans at the Hansel King Sportsplex. The first game starts at 10 a.m.

Hurricanes 7, BSW 6

Jamie Finely scored the Wildcats’ only touchdown on a three-yard run.

Finley led BSW rushing attack with 40 yards. Michael Brothern contributed 29 yards. Michael Jenkins had 25 yards rushing.

Defensively, Jenkins sparked the Wildcats with four tackles and a fumble recovery. Byrion Robinson and Finley had three stops apiece.

Hammond 26, BSW 0 

Defensively, Robinson directed BSW with six tackles.

BSW 26, Saints 0 

Tyrone Jones provided the offensive firepower to lead BSW with 118 yards rushing and two touchdowns. His scores came off of a 80-yard run and a three-yard scramble.

Kenneth Dixon contributed 43 yards on the ground. He punched in two touchdowns on a eight-yard run and returned a 10-yard fumble recovery. He also cashed in two extra point attempt.

Defensively, Kermit Sartin Jr. paced the Wildcats with six tackles. Tyeland Coleman provided five stops. Nathan Lewis had three tackles and a fumble recovery.
