Lady Cats chill Salem

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats managed to squeeze out a narrow 4-3 victory over the Salem Lady Wildcats on a very cold Monday Night in softball action.

“It was a cold night, which was pretty tough to play softball,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We got off to a bad start, but did the job in the end. Overall, I was very proud of the girls’ effort.”

The Lady Cats (5-2) continue action today as they prepare to host the McComb Lady Tigers. The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 4, Salem 3 

The Lady Wildcats of Walthall County quickly jumped out on Bogue Chitto in the opening inning and grabbed a 2-0 advantage.

The Lady Bobcats managed to fight through the cold and battle back into the contest by pushing across two runs to tie the game at 2-all in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Salem answered in the top of the fifth inning, and recaptured the lead after slipping a run across BC’s tough defense.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Cats of Lincoln County put together a hot hitting streak to rally back and claim the win by pushing across two runs.

Alana Nettle was the winning pitcher for BC with six strikeouts and three walks.

Darrien Dykes suffered the loss for the Lady Wildcats with three strikeouts and one walk.

Mattie Avants , Colby Kirkland and Christian Black were the top hitters for the Lady Bobcats with a pair of singles each. Terrah Nelson and Zariah Matthews hit safely.

Lauren Burch paced the Lady Wildcats’ offense with two singles. Hitting safely were Rachel Bond, Zoie Bridges and Chasity Hightower.

In junior varsity action, Bogue Chitto clipped Salem 5-4.

Reagan Kirkland was the winning pitcher for BC with one strikeout and no walks.

Baileigh Jackson powered the Lady Bobcats with two singles. Karly Leake, Marshonikique Blackwell, Brooke Myers and Katie Brumfield hit a single apiece.
