Panthers blank Wingfield

Scotty Bateman provided a dominating performance on the pitcher mound for the Panthers as Brookhaven blanked the Wingfield Falcons 10-0 in Region 6-5A baseball action.

“Scotty pitched a great game,” said BHS coach Randy Spring. “Wingfield has improved a lot over of the season and they refuse to give up. Overall, I was pleased with the guys’ effort. We played really well defensively, had good pitching and hit the ball hard.”

Brookhaven (6-4, 1-0) will be in action Thursday as they host the Loyd Star Hornets in a make up game. Junior Varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7.

Brookhaven 10, Wingfield 0 

Bateman pitched the win for Brookhaven collecting five strikeouts and allowed only one walk in a five-inning one hit shutout.

Landon McCullough powered the Panthers at the plate with a home run and a double. Penn Wilson ripped a double and a single. Brett Spring and Bateman had a double each. Hitting safely were Myles Tipton, Reed Jones, Blaine Moak and Stone Case.

In junior varsity action,  Brookhaven hammered Wingfield 19-0.
