Lady Cougars feast on McComb

MCCOMB – The Lawrence County Lady Cougars had no problems in dismantling the McComb Lady Tigers to gain a 18-0 win Thursday night in Region 6-4A softball action.

“I was very proud of our team,” said LCHS coach Meleah Howard. “Elizabeth Smith pitched a good game and our defense played well behind her.”

The Lady Cougars (7-1, 2-0) will be in action Saturday as they travel to Brookhaven to participate in the Ole Brook softball tournament. LCHS plays Brookhaven first at 10 a.m.

Lawrence Co. 18, McComb 0

Elizabeth Smith pitched a no hitter for the Lady Cougars collecting four strikeouts and allowed no walks.

Bethany Davis suffered the loss for the Lady Tigers with no strikeouts and eight walks.

Alyssa Pendergrass powered Lawrence County at the plate with three singles. Maddux Kirkland provided a double and a single. Alexsundria Thomas ripped a double. Hitting safely were Madison Hyde, Tiera Collins and Smith.
