BA Cougars win big against Tri County

The Brookhaven Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars faced off with the Tri County Rebels Saturday afternoon and picked up wins in every game. The Cougars battled a determined Tri County squad pulling out the eventual 54-34 win. The Lady Cougars held off a late run by the Lady Rebels to pick up the win 48-40. 

Brookhaven Academy has a tough task at hand this Friday, as they will look to continue their hot start at home against Parklane Academy. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.

BA girls 48,

Tri County 40

The Lady Cougars came out fast and carried a 34-17 lead heading to halftime. After the break, Tri County gave a valiant effort, but there wasn’t enough in the tank to overtake the Lady Cougars. Jana Case led BA with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the game. Sophie Wilson played a complete game with 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.  Leta McCullough led Tri County with 15 points.

BA boys 54,

Tri County 34

The BA Cougars (9-2) held a 10-point lead at halftime on way to a convincing 20-point win. Ethan Nations had a game-high 27 points and eight rebounds. Dawson Flowers had 10 points and seven rebounds and Luke Jackson added nine points and five assists. Zack Willis led Tri County with seven points.

BA JV girls 26,

Tri County 21

The BA JV Lady Cougars (12-2) started off slow in the game, which resulted in trailing 10-7 at halftime. Both teams struggled on offense throughout the game, which ended up going to overtime tied at 18. The Lady Cougars outscored Tri County 8-3 in overtime to pick up the 26-21 victory. AB Warren led BA with nine points. Makayla Martin and Julie Anna Bartram followed with six and five points respectively. Mel Lewis had eight for Tri County.

BA JV boys 39,

Tri County 34

The BA JV Cougars (12-1) overcame a slow start to pull things together in the fourth quarter to eventually overcome the Rebels and win 39-34. Britton Nelson led the Cougars with 12 points for the game. Tyler Fortenberry scored 11 points and Trey Fortenberry rounded out the scoring with seven points. Garrett Ford led Tri County and all scorers with 17 points.

The 7th grade Lady Cougars led Tri County16-8 at halftime on their way to a 30-18 win.  BA was led in scoring by Madison Moak and AB Warren with 10 points each. Emily Claire Felder added six points for the game.
