Ebony Clark convicted of manslaughter
Originally charged with murder, Ebony Clark was found guilty of manslaughter Friday after a two-day trial in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
Jurors reached the unanimous verdict after deliberating for just over an hour Friday morning, said Circuit Clerk Dustin Bairfield.
Jurors had to decide between three possible outcomes for Clark: guilty of murder, guilty of manslaughter or not guilty.
Judge David Strong, who presided over the trial, will sentence Clark Monday at 11 a.m. The manslaughter charge carries with it a prison sentence that can range anywhere from a minimum of two years to a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Clark, who was out on bond, was moved to the Lincoln County Jail after the verdict.
Clark was originally charged with the murder of Datavion Smith in Brookhaven on Dec. 23, 2012. Smith was 17 at the time of his death.
