Dinner to raise money for Doll’s House

The Doll’s House is hosting an event that will bring together one community for one night to support the women’s rehabilitation center. For one night, Lincoln County can come together and make an impact of the lives of battered women in our area. The third annual dinner is Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Lincoln Civic Center.

“Three years ago we came together and said this is what we are going to do. Last year was about what we are doing and this year will be about what we have done,” said an Executive Director of Johnnie Turner.

He said that this event will showcase some of the successful women and families that have benefited from the Doll’s House organization.

Cyndi Grace Ministries will speak; Patton Rice, Steve Russell and the Mississippi School of the Arts Chorale and Becky Haley will perform. There are over 30 local sponsors who contributed to the event.

“The Doll’s House would be impossible without community involvement; it’s one of the most amazing things about our community,” said Turner. “It is a privilege and honor to serve a community such as this.”

The Doll’s House is a not-for-profit rehabilitation center for women. The organization offers transitional housing and skill training for women. The organization serves between 12 and 20 female residents a week. Although that does not sound like a big number, over the course of a year hundreds of women have been empowered by the program.

“A message of hope is being breathed out of Lincoln County,” said Turner.

He said he hopes that other counties could become inspired by the Doll’s House and create their own organizations within their own communities.

“I hope this spreads like wildfire. Imagine what kind of world we would live in,” said Turner.

Tickets to attend the Doll’s House dinner are $30 and can be purchased at the First Baptist Church, Clint’s Pharmacy or J & B Tile. Silent auction sponsorship tables are $300.

“We pray together for deliverance, healing and empowerment; and to raise awareness and money to help heal the wounds of the ‘little girl’ in every woman that is ministered to,” said Turner.
