Acy denied bond

Charles Acy was denied bond during his hearing Thursday in city court. Acy has been appointed a public defender and the date for his preliminary hearing has yet to be determined.

Acy, 18, of 1104 Whitworth Ext, is charged with two counts of DUI causing mutilation/disfigurement, two counts of DUI homicide, a second offense driving with license suspended and no proof of liability insurance.

Acy is allegedly responsible for the death of Jevonta Dickey and Shaquan Richardson when he drove his Hummer under the influence into Dickey and Richardson’s truck.

A vehicular homicide conviction in Mississippi can result in five to 25 years in jail with up to $10,000 in fines according to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
