‘Tis the season at the Lincoln County Library. The 10th Annual Christmas tree collection is on display throughout the building.

Several community organizations have chosen to provide and decorate a tree to show off during the Christmas season.

“It is a good way to get into the holiday spirit and for clubs to show what they can do,” Kasie Eckman said. “This is a way for the community to come together and get involved.”

About eight trees have been set up at the library, each one showing the unique talents of the groups that sponsored them such as quilted ornaments on the Piecemaker Quilter’s Guild tree and seed packets on the live Master Gardener’s tree.

Eckman said people really look forward to setting them up together and viewing the others. The last day for set up is Thursday before the Christmas parade.

Although most trees are just for holiday fun like the Fox’s Pizza Snowman tree, Eckman’s tree in the children’s sections offers viewers a little more.

“I think it livens up the library and makes it a little more fun,” said Eckman. “It’s good to get your name out there and join in the holiday spirit, and this way a lot of people will see the tree.”

She added many of the groups do not have an actual building, so this gives them a way to display their talents publicly.

The library’s wish tree is covered in tiny red pieces of construction paper cut in the shape of books with a name of a story on each. Eckman said the plan is for people to pick one of the books to buy and donate to the library.

“We have different book titles that we are asking for for Christmas. That way you can pick a book that you think is cool and means something to you for you to donate,” Eckman said. “It’s an exciting way to get people to donate and not just give money.”

Eckman added none of the books are more than $20 and have many well-known titles such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Trees will be on display throughout December. To further celebrate the holiday season, the library will be giving out cookies and punch and painting Rudolph noses before the Christmas parade Thursday, and The Friends of the Library have invited Santa to the library take photos and gift requests of good children on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
