Prayer walk planned for Thursday

A prayer walk and all-day prayer devotional, sponsored by King’s Daughters Medical Center, will take place beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday at the hospital. The event is open to the public.

“In theme with our hospital’s mission statement, we are going to devote the entire day, all 24 hours, to prayer,” KDMC Information Systems Director Carl Smith said Friday afternoon.

At 7:15 a.m., Smith will introduce KDMC CEO Alvin Hoover and KDMC chaplain Ken Kirk before setting off on a prayer walk around the hospital.

During the walk, participants will stop at 10 “prayer stations” that are devoted to specific designations that includes city/county government officials, the military and KDMC physicians and clinics, among other designations. Participants are encouraged to offer a prayer in support of these people and institutions.

After the walk is completed, Tillmon Bishop, chairman of the Deacons at Huecks Retreat Baptist Church and Lincoln County chancery clerk, will deliver a devotional. Participants will also be able to sign up for prayer in any 10-minute increment during a 24-hour span.

Refreshments will be served after the walk.
