WESSON – Head coach Phil Broome and his Copiah-Lincoln CommunityCollege football staff welcomed Co-Lin’s returning sophomores andincoming freshman football players to campus this morning.

Equipment will be issued and dormitory rooms assigned today.Players will be timed in the half-mile run tonight aftersupper.

“We will get an indication of who worked hard this summer andwho didn’t,” said Coach Broome. Players will be required tocomplete the run in a certain time, depending on theirpositions.

Preseason practice begins Thursday at 9 a.m. The afternoonsession starts at 3:30 p.m. and lasts approximately two hours.

Broome said Gordon Hicks has been hired to coach the offensiveline. He replaces Allen Rudolph who left for Mississippi College.Hicks comes to Co-Lin from Kermit, Texas.

Dave Cross is Co-Lin’s defensive coordinator. Rickey Cloptoncoaches the defensive line, Calvin Green, defensive backs; andCharles Sutton, wide receivers. Broome coaches the offensivebacks.

Classes for all students begin next Monday at Co-Lin. The Wolvesplay their first game Aug. 31, hosting preseason No. 1 Northwest inthe Thursday night season opener. Kickoff is 7 p.m., in StoneStadium.

Last year the Wolves posted a 5-5 worksheet.
