Enterprise Yellow Jackets burn Stringer Red Devils

STRINGER – Senior runningback Bobby Smith scored threetouchdowns to spark the Yellow Jackets to a 42-20 Region 4-1A winover the Stringer Red Devils Friday night.

Enterprise, coached by Rickey Deere, improved to 5-1 overall and4-0 in the district race.

“Stringer was pretty strong in the line,” said Deere. “Ouroffensive line blocked well and we played hard.”

Smith rushed 15 times for 100 yards for the Jackets. SeniorShermaine Vaughn followed with 14 carries for 122 yards.

Enterprise posted two touchdowns in the first quarter for a 15-6lead over Stringer. Smith scored his first TD on an eight yard runand Justin Kyzar ran for the two-point conversion. Kyzar thenscored a one-yard touchdown and Scott Sasser nailed the PAT. Sasserwent 4 of 5 on the night..

In the second quarter, the Jackets added two more touchdowns andincreased their lead to 29-6 over the Red Devils. Monti Crotwellthrew a halfback pass to Rufus Allen for a 33-yard touchdown andSmith bolted for a four-yard TD before halftime.

Third-quarter action saw Enterprise adding another TD on a51-yard run by Vaughn and a 35-6 advantage.

In the final frame, Smith recorded his third touchdown score ona 39 yard run.

Enterprise marched for 17 first downs and 378 total offensiveyards. The Jacket ground game picked up 277 yards on 39carries.

In the air, Kyzar completed 5 of 7 passes for 68 yards. Catchingthree passes was Allen with three catches for 80 yards. Crotwellmade two catches for 10 yards. Following with an 11-yard catch wasVaughn.

The Jacket defense, was led by linebacker Chase Raifordwith 14 tackles and one fumble recovery. Josh Pruden finished with12 tackles followed by Allen with 10 stops.

Enterprise entertains district foe Natchez CathedralFriday night. Cathedral (2-3, 1-3) fell to Mt. Olive 33-13 in itslatest action. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
