Lady ‘Cats take BHS tournament title

The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats captured the Brookhaven HighSchool Slowpitch Softball Tournament Saturday at the SportsComplex. Bogue Chitto rallied to beat Class 5A Warren Central 7-6in the championship game. The Lady ‘Cats exploded for seven runs inthe bottom of the seventh and finished with 13 hits.
Finishing third was Brookhaven and fourth was West Lincoln.Twelve teams competed in the tourney.
“Our girls never gave in and they were able to put together thebest offensive inning of the season in the bottom of the seventh,”said Bogue Chitto coach Adriane Albritton. Her team went undefeatedin the tournament.
“Every game can be attributed to solid offense,” said Albritton.”our girls hit the ball well throughout the tournament.” Kia Porterwas the winning pitcher in each Bogue Chitto game.
Bogue Chitto 7, W. Central 6
In the championship game, Bogue Chitto rallied for threeruns in the top of the sixth inning after trailing Warren Central6-4 in the fifth. This was the second time in the tournament thatBogue Chitto defeated Warren Central.
Kia Porter was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bobcatsin all five games. The Lady Panthers outhit the Lady Vikings13-6.
Powering Bogue Chitto with an inside-the-park home runand a single was Jessica Melton. Randi Moak doubled and singledtwice. Marquita Ratcliff hit three singles. Marley Porter ripped apair of singles. Hitting safely were Amanda Wallace and KiaPorter.
Bogue Chitto 12, Brookhaven 11
In Game 4 for the Lady Bobcats, Bogue Chitto overcame an11-5 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning with a seven-runrally for the comeback win over Brookhaven.
,Ratcliff directed Bogue Chitto with five singles. TracyWallace and Marley Porter collected three singles apiece. AmandaWallace, Maldonado and Melton hit two singles apiece. Moak andBrown singled.
Brookhaven was led by Chiquita Rancifer, Ashley Sykesand Samantha Boutwell who had three singles apiece. Devine Porterdoubled and singled. JaRonda Moore tripled.
Mandy Vinson (14-10) was the losingpitcher.
Bogue Chitto 4, W. Central 0
The Lady Bobcats held the Lady Vikings scoreless in Game 3.Brown and Maldonado led Bogue Chitto with three singles apiece.Melton, Tracy Wallace and Amanda Wallace collected a pair ofsingles apiece. Hitting safely were Moak, Ratcliff, Porter, KarenWallace and Marley Porter.
Bogue Chitto outhit Warren Central 17-4 at the plate.
Bogue Chitto 6, McComb 2
In Game 2, the Lady Bobcats outhit the McComb LadyTigers 17-3. Moak sparked Bogue Chitto with an inside-the-parkhomer and two singles. Tracy Wallace doubled and singled.Collecting three singles apiece were Melton, Ratcliff, Maldonadoand Karen Wallace.
Singles were hit by Brown, Kia Porter and AmandaWallace.
Bogue Chitto 7, Pearl 1
In the opener for Bogue Chitto, Melton led the way witha grand slam home run. Amanda Wallace, Maldonado and Brown drilledtwo singles apiece. Moak, Ratcliff, Kia Porter and Tracy Wallacehit safely.
The Lady Bobcats outhit the Lady Pirates13-6.
