Services for the Rev. Norman U. Boone of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Friday, Nov. 23, at First United Methodist Church with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome and from 1:30 until service time at the church.

The Rev. Boone, 90, died Nov. 20, 2001, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. He was born in Lauderdale County on Feb. 6, 1911,to Ed Boone and Mammie Baker Boone. He was a graduate of MillsapsCollege and Emory University.

He was a retired Methodist minister. He served as a pastor ofthe Mississippi United Methodist Conference for over 40 years,including six years as district superintendent of the Brookhavendistrict. He was pastor emeritus at First United Methodist Church.He was a Navy chaplain in WWII.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife of nearly 69 years, Leola Speed Boone ofBrookhaven; his son, Brendon Boone and daughter-in-law Karen JensenBoone of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; his daughter, Becky Smith andson-in-law Ken Smith of Laguna Beach, Calif.; and two grandsons andone granddaughter.
