James Joseph “Jim” Burris

Services for James Joseph “Jim” Burris of Meadville were 11a.m., Friday, Aug. 2, at Concord Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Burris, 88, died July 31, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Franklin County on Feb. 9, 1914, to William Burris andLillie Cotten Burris.

He was a retired rural letter carrier and a farmer. He was amember of Concord Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, LouiseMcGehee Burris; and one sister and five brothers.

Survivors are his son, Jimmy Burris of McCall Creek; hissisters, Ammie Cupit and Alyce Porter, both of McCall Creek; andthree grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
