Services for Bettie Thomas Becker Steffan of Chesterfield, Mo.,are 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Francis of Assisi Church withburial in the Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Harrigill Funeral Home,with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Steffan, 94, died Oct. 27, 2002, in Chesterfield, Mo. Shewas born in Brookhaven on Nov. 20, 1907, to Ferdinand Victor Beckerand Bettie Thomas Drane Becker. She earned a B.A. degree in 1929from Hollins College in Roanoke, Va., with a Latin major and mathminor.

She was a retired medical secretary and corporate treasurer forDrs. Garold V. Stryker and Edward Burkhart of St. Louis. Whileretired in South Carolina, she worked in voter registration for theDemocratic Party in Laurens County. In later years her favoritepastimes were reading the Daily Leader and working crosswordpuzzles. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; and her former husband,Joseph Sutton Steffan.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Bettie and RichardPerry and Ellen Becker, all of St. Louis, Mo., and Marci and JamesRehg of Altoona, Pa.; her sisters-in-law, Adeline, Elizabeth, andLouise Becker, all of Brookhaven; her brother-in-law, Van Hatcherof Brookhaven; her first cousin, Mike Becker of Brookhaven; and sixgrandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
