Services for Derrick A. Jones of Hazlehurst are 2 p.m.,Saturday, Jan. 25, at Stringer Funeral Home Chapel in Hazlehurstwith burial in Gallman Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at thefuneral home.

Mr. Jones, 88, died Jan. 22, 2003, at his residence. He was bornin England and came to the U.S. in 1951, where he worked as aresearch and development scientist for the 3M Company.

He was known for his research and development and since hisretirement had registered several patents of his inventions in thesurgical and medical fields.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Ellen Jones; his sons, Terry Jonesof Stillwater, Minn., and Pete Jones of Oakdale, Minn.; hisstepsons, Ken Moss of Reston, Va., and Charles Baker of Senatobia;his stepdaughter, Deborah Knight of Hazlehurst; and threegrandchildren.
