Services for David Earl Smith of Madison are 10 a.m., Tuesday,April 22, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson with burialat 12:30 p.m. at Little Bahalia Baptist Church near Wesson.

Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. atthe funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 89, died April 18, 2003, at the home of his daughterin Madison. He was born in Lincoln County, lived in Texas for 45years, and in the Jackson area for the past 28 years.

He had owned and operated Smith Swabbing Service in Texas andretired to the Brookwood Country Club area in Jackson in 1975. Heowned a soybean and cattle farm in Red Lick. He was a Navy veteranof WWII. He enjoyed hunting.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Connie; his brother,Horace Smith; and his sisters, Bess Purviance, Mary Nell Smith, andCat Craft.

Survivors are his daughter, Marianne Machost of Madison; hisbrothers, Sam Smith, Jim Smith, and Pete Smith, all of Jackson; hissister, Helen Starnes of New Orleans; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or theParkinson’s Foundation.
