There are 14,530 folks in Lincoln County we want to salutetoday. That’s the approximate number of workers in the county’scivilian labor force.
Monday is Labor Day, the holiday set aside to recognizeAmerica’s workers and their contributions to our country’sstrength, prosperity, and well-being. The sum of thosecontributions is untold.
The nation first celebrated Labor Day on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882,in New York City, led by the Central Labor Union. In 1884 the firstMonday in September was selected as the holiday, the CLU urgedsimilar organizations across the country to celebrate a”workingmen’s holiday.”
So much of what is great about our nation is borne on the backsof American workers, both men and women. Thanks for all you do.
Keep up the good work.
