Services for Melvin Smith of Brookhaven are 11 a.m., Thursday,Dec. 11, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in PleasantGrove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Smith, 82, died Dec. 9, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Aug. 23, 1921, to HillarySmith and Mary Watts Smith.
He was a truck driver and sawmill worker. He was a member ofPleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Edith E.Smith; three sisters, Joycie Smith, Josie Smith and Lillian Smith;his brothers, Harvey, Jaudon and G.B. Smith; and a son-in-law,Rembert Redd.
Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia Ann Redd ofBogue Chitto, and Brenda Sue and Landal B. Moak of Summit; hissister, Myrblee Butler of Brookhaven; 11 grandchildren; 21great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
